The Sisingaan (lion dance) is a mass event in colossal cultural ceremonies. A lion sculpture, originating in Subang, is carried around by four to six men, accompanied merrily by the musical drums of Pencak Silat. Dashing gestures and colorful clothing allow the dancers to impart an impression of courage and heroism.
It’s a kind of very famous traditional not only in West Java or Indonesia but however internationally, the Dance festival is held and followed by the groups of the art coming from all sub districts in Subang Regency.
With every performance, the Sisingaan hopes to spread knowledge and appreciation of West Javanese dance and to continue its practice among new generations. (westjava.info)
